If you’re like me, you wash clothes every day without thinking about it: put the clothes in the washing machine, set the cycle, add in the detergent cleaner, and hit the start button.
Everything should be fine right?
Yes, however, over time, bacteria, mold, and other germs grow and multiply inside your washing machine. You might not see it, but if you’ve washed enough clothes then it’s probably there (and may get on your clothes).
Peter Walsh (on the Rachel Ray Show) has a genius, simple way to clean your washing machine. On the video, he says that all you need to do is add a dishwasher tablet into your washing machine and run it (without clothes of course).
Apparently, this would not have been a good idea a couple of decades ago (since dishwashing detergents were bad for washing machines back then). However, it’s fine now and shouldn’t hurt your washing machine (just don’t use a plastic-coated tablet he warns).
It’s such a simple solution and I’ll definitely be using this trick to keep my washing machine clean.
