One of the most beautiful parts of a wedding ceremony is watching the bridge walk down the aisle. In this instance, it was even more emotional.
Jaquie Goncher, the 25 year old bride, walked down the aisle with her father ready to give her away. What made this so special was that Jaquie has been paralyzed from the neck down since the age of 17 from a swimming accident.
Since it was a major spinal chord injury doctors told Jaquie that most likely she would not be able to walk again. Jaquie defied those odds by standing just six months later. However, her rehabilitation was very slow and she mostly relied on the wheelchair.
In a Cosmopolitan interview, Jaquie remembered how hard and painful her rehabilitation was. She recalled crying and not being able to even turn the pedals on a stationary bike the first time she went back to the gym.
However, being extremely determined to walk at her wedding she put the extensive work in to make that happen. And was it ever worth it.
Surprising everyone by walking down the aisle (well, almost everyone, some immediate family members were in on the surprise) it brought everyone to tears. Jaquie even walked, danced, and remained standing throughout the wedding ceremony and reception.
